Australia Marks 4th Anniversary of Apology to Stolen Generations

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Australian government’s apology to the Stolen Generations.

Then-prime minister Kevin Rudd delivered the apology in 2008 to Indigenous people forcibly removed from their families. Now foreign minister, Rudd today told a function in Sydney that Australia is ‘still barely scratching the surface’ in its efforts to achieve reconciliation.
